Is television important to us?
Television, something the entire world loves. Be it free time, just leisure, television has become a requirement in most people’s daily lives. But, as great an invention it serves to be, just like any other piece of technology, this has it’s pros and cons too.
As much as I love watching tv too, it has many ill effects on our health as well as our concentration. Watching too much of it in one day, leads to our brain’s grasping skills to weaken, us not being able to concentrate and also at times, our eyesight being affected. Sometimes, the advertisements tend to provoke complexity in people by pushing the concept of ‘perfect body’ or many more such aspects. Also, some adult films are aired, which few age groups shouldn’t watch. Small children, who should be enjoying outdoor activities tend to stay in and watch new cartoons and programs introduced to them. Tv can also lead to a mental block at times, memory loss or even changes in one’s behavior.
But, on the bright side, television acts as a boon too. So many informative channels such as national geographic, or even the daily news channels help keep updates on ongoing happenings in our vicinity, as well as places away. Programs for children, making learning easier for them, daily soaps for adults and senior citizens act as stress busters and breaks from having busy days at office or work. Children too, require tv to relax during exams or even on regular days.
Just like many other topics, this one too has two sides to it. Some may feel television is important while some may feel it to be completely unnecessary. In my opinion, it is a requirement in a person’s daily life, until it doesn’t act as a bane!
